About Us

Steve was born in a preacher's home, but it wasn’t until he was 17 that he realized he was trusting in his own goodness, and not in Christ, to get him to Heaven. On May 11, 1982 he placed his trust in the Lord to be his Savior.

As a young man God called him to missions during a Missions Conference and then directed him to the Dominican Republic during another Conference. He graduated from Bible Institute, completed deputation and spent a year in language school before arriving in the DR in April 1999 with his wife Julia and young son, Alec. 

After 5 months of one on one soul-winning and discipleship, Steve began a Bible Study in their home. Shortly after, the Abundant Life Baptist Church was started in the city of La Vega.

The Brockell's see their ministry as two-fold. Winning souls to Christ is primary. The gospel is front stage and evangelistic events are central to their ministry. Building believers in the Word and establishing a strong, evangelistic Baptist church is the second part of their vision.

Steve is the Pastor and leads the Men, Teens and Bible Institute. Julia leads the Women, Children’s Ministry and Special Events. Their son Alec assists with the media and music. Their daughter Sophie teaches in the children's ministry including leading children's dramas. 

After 14 years in the DR, the Brockell's are excited to see what God has in store next. They are raising money to construct a new church building so they can see more souls won for Christ in the Dominican Republic.
